Sometimes you may feel empty, alone, hopeless, discontent, lost, or just flat out mad. That is okay. You will experience these emotions and over time learn to trust Jesus to be who He said He was and do exactly what He said He was going to do. The Bible provides God's children with His infalliable words to guide you, connect you to His Lordship, strengthen you, encourage you, challenge you, and in regards to this post, comfort you with His peace. Peace is not just a state of mind that comes when you think about it enough. Peace is not something that has to be seen, like a relationship or material possessions. Peace is Christ. You have peace simply because Jesus died for you. Think about that feeling you get after a good worship song or sharing your hardships with a friend and they remind you everything is going to be alright. That is the power of the love of Christ permeating your brokenness and emptiness and leaving behind peace.
Remember friends, Jesus also died for those who have hurt you, those who persecute you, your annoying boss and messy coworker's, your friends and loved ones, and even that ex that broke your heart. Jesus did this so that you can be free from death. Jesus did this so that you may have everlasting eternal peace. This peace that Christ brings, is a peace that surpasses circumstances and and outcomes. Peace is knowing that you are loved. Here are a few Bible verses to meditate on the next time you feel without peace.
Psalms 119:165- Great peace have those who love your law; nothing can make them stumble
Matthew 11:28 - Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Isaiah 54:10- Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you.
Romans 14:19- So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.
Ephesians 4:2- Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love
1 Corinthians 13:4- Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant
Romans 12:12- Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, persistent in prayer.
Psalm 14:29- Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.
Galatians 5:22-23- But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Jesus was the ultimate doctor during His time on earth. He was a doctor because he healed His people. After he ascended back to heaven, Jesus left us with His spirit, a Holy companion to guide us through times of trouble and ultimately provide peace for this earthly journey. And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”
